O06A Site
Site overview
The O06A site is located at the corner of Ella Street and Shingiss Street in the Bottoms neighborhood of McKees Rocks Borough. It will serve as an entry point into the tunnel system, capturing combined sewage from the surrounding area and directing it into the underground tunnel network.
Construction at O06A will include a vertical shaft approximately 25 feet wide and 150 feet deep, along with a regulator and a connector tunnel beneath Shingiss Street.
Site preparations, including the demolition of existing buildings, were completed in early 2026.

What to expect during construction
ALCOSAN recognizes that the O06A site is located in a residential neighborhood and is committed to working closely with the McKees Rocks Borough and the project contractor to minimize disruption to nearby residents throughout construction.
Measures will be implemented to help minimize noise, dust and vibration, while keeping the community informed as work progresses. To help manage anticipated truck traffic, the project will also use dedicated truck-hauling routes and include road repairs and improvements where needed.

*Impact-producing construction activities, such as pile driving and jackhammering, are limited to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Controlled blasting activities are limited to 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work hours exclude legal holidays; limited exceptions, including emergencies, may apply.
